Our in house laboratory uses very advanced Idexx equipment for assessing your pet’s overall body function. This tool is not only wonderful for diagnosing patients but also for early detection of any issues in an otherwise healthy pet. This equipment includes:

  • Complete Blood Counts: Using blood, within 5 minutes, this machine can be used to evaluate your pet’s overall health and detect a wide range of disorders, including anemia, infection and certain cancers.

  • Chemistry Panel/ Electrolytes: Using blood this testing provides values that give feedback to our veterinarians on your pet’s kidney function, liver function, diabetic and parathyroid status, and electrolyte and fluid balances.

  • Total T4: Low thyroid levels in dogs and high thyroid levels in cats are common diseases occurring in middle aged animals. Our in house detection can use blood to evaluate these levels in your animal and medications can then be used to manage these diseases in your pet. Monitoring is also an important part of these diseases which can also be done in house on a routine basis.

  • Cortisol: Endocrine diseases are a common issue for animals. Evaluating cortisol function in your pet can help us diagnose Cushings or Addisons disease which are both serious life altering diseases that can be well controlled with medications.

  • Urinalysis/Urine Sediments: Using a small amount of urine from your pet a urinalysis is used to detect and manage a wide range of disorders, such as urinary tract infections, kidney disease, and diabetes. Our state of the art sedivue machine allows for very fast, accurate diagnosis of your pet’s urinary issues.
